Hoverally 2026: 50th Anniversary Celebration

The Hoverclub of America is returning to its birthplace to celebrate 50 years of hovercrafting. This "Family Reunion" themed event welcomes current and past members to the very site of the first Hoverallies held between 1978 and 1984.

The rally features a mix of river operations, social gatherings, and educational sessions:

  • Wabash River Cruising: General operations and cruising will take place throughout the weekend.

  • The Clinton Cruise: The highlight of the weekend is a Saturday morning organized cruise 16 miles upriver to Clinton for lunch at Dairy Queen.

  • Factory Tour: An early bird tour of the Neoteric Hovercraft Factory is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

  • Tech & History Talks: Held at the Fairbanks Park pavilions, these sessions cover topics like propeller carving, skirt fabrication, and the history of hovercraft travel.

  • Challenges: Participants can join a Scavenger Hunt or a Point-to-Point Challenge on Friday afternoon.

    Location & Logistics

    • Primary Site: Fairbanks Park, Terre Haute, Indiana.

    • River Access: Launching and recovery will take place at the Fairbanks Park boat ramp.

    • Registration: Online registration begins in May with early bird pricing. On-site registration and safety inspections are required before launching on the river.

    • Accommodations: Discounted room blocks are available at the Hampton Inn (until July 15) and the Drury Hotel (until June 22).

    • Camping: The club recommends Lazy L Lake Campground in West Terre Haute, which features a water float park and full renovations.
